Grade 4 Three Gorges Dam Project - Environmentalists
Outline of Task
Students will develop an argument for or against the Three Gorges Dam Project using an assigned perspective in a cooperative group. The different perspectives are Chinese citizens, dam engineers, environmentalists, and Chinese government officials.
Learning Outcome
Students can:
1. Work cooperatively and productively within their assigned group.
2. Use information from their written arguments to orally present their perspective effectively.
3. Understand that there are different views about the Three Gorges Dam.
4. Begin to develop an understanding of people’s different view points and perspectives.

A PowerPoint presentation that includes an assigned perspective and persuading facts that inform others of a group’s argument.
